Ingredients for 2 persons

  • 2.5 kg mussels
  • 2 onions
  • 1 carrot
  • 2 stalks of celery
  • coriander
  • 2 limes
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 25 cl Jan De Lichte
  • pepper and salt


Wash the mussels thoroughly, remove the barbs. Stew the chopped onion, celery, carrot and leek in a mussel pot with some butter. Cut one and a half lime in segments. Put the raw mussels in the mussel pot. Add the lime  parts together with the coarsely chopped coriander.  Season with pepper and salt. Pour 25 cl Jan De Lichte white beer over the mussels and close the lid. Boil the mussels quickly until the shells open. Check the readiness to eat. 

Serve in a deep plate with fresh coriander leaves.


Eat with brown bread and drink with a cool glass of Jan De Lichte
